On April 5, 2025, the community of Capiranga, located in the municipality of Juruti (PA), received a visit from veterinarian Lauriana Tyza Andriara, responsible for conducting a course focused on good practices in poultry slaughter. The initiative aimed to share technical knowledge and promote safer and more humane practices in the raising and handling of small animals.
During the course, community residents learned everything from proper poultry handling to the care needed to ensure humane, safe, and high-quality slaughter.
With theoretical and practical classes, each stage was carried out responsibly, prioritizing animal welfare and food safety — fundamental pillars for strengthening local production.
More than just technical, this training represents an important step toward the sustainable development of the community.
At the end, the shared knowledge is transformed into action: it promotes more conscious practices, values the region's production, and inspires changes in the way we produce and consume.
The activity is part of the Small Animal Breeding Implementation and Development Project, an initiative supported by Alcoa and executed by the Vitória Régia Institute (PA). The project aims to foster income generation, promote technical knowledge, and stimulate more sustainable production in the region's rural communities.
